20. Tim Harris Tim Harris, who was selected in the fourth round with the 84th overall pick in 1986, has the most sacks of any player ever drafted by the Packers at 81.0. While that number stands, for now, a current packer and player who will appear later on this list, is sure to break it in the 2018-19 season. Harris played the first five seasons of his NFL career in Green Bay and never tallied fewer than seven sacks in a season. In 1989, he went crazy for 19.5 sacks in a single season which still stands as the teams single-season record. He also made his only Pro Bowl and First Team All-Pro selections that season. Overall, he finished in the top five in the league in sacks on three separate occasions-1988, 1989 and 1992. In 1991, he moved on from Green Bay and played for the San Francisco 49ers for four of his final five seasons to finish his career. He played during a tough time for the Packers, but will still go down as an excellent draft choice. John Brockington John Brockington was selected with the ninth overall pick in the 1971 draft and barely makes the cut. He was a stud running back for the Packers, rushing for 5,024 yards in his career, third-most of any Packer behind Ahman Green and Jim Taylor. Brockington started out his Packer career on fire, rushing for over 1000 yards his first three seasons in the league. Unfortunately, his workload severely decreased after his fourth season and his yards went down as well. In 1971, he won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award and that was the first of many accolades he’d collect. Throughout his career, he also earned three Pro Bowls and one first-team All-Pro selection. Brockington was a big running back who relied heavily on his strength and used a bruising rushing attack. It’s no coincidence, then, he was able to plow his way onto No. 19 on this list. Marco Rivera Marco Rivera was a nice little find in the sixth round of the 1996 draft when he was selected with the 208th overall pick. Offensive linemen are sometimes hard to judge, especially when comparing them to other players who have objective statistics to support their play. Fortunately, Rivera’s play does all the talking, as he was selected to three consecutive Pro Bowls from 2002-2004. He also anchored the Packers at right guard for six straight years after playing left guard for his first two seasons in the NFL. Rivera played his last two seasons with the Dallas Cowboys and was as durable as they come. He played in 155 of a possible 160 games throughout his career. In fact, he only missed one start from 1998-2004. His toughness has been missed and they surely don’t make ’em like ol’ Marco Rivera anymore. Nick Collins Nick Collins could’ve seen himself rise way up this list if it weren’t for a career-ending neck injury he suffered on Sep. 18 against the Carolina Panthers. Nonetheless, his time with the Packers was short, but sweet. Very sweet. Collins helped anchor the backend of one of the best defenses in the league in 2010 and ultimately, helped lead them to the Super Bowl. He was best known as a ball-hawk and a playmaker and returned three interceptions for touchdowns in 2008. He even added one to his resume against Ben Roethlisberger in the Super Bowl. He appeared to just be getting started, having earned a trip to three consecutive Pro Bowls from 2008-2010 before only playing two games the following season. Who knows that this former second-round pick could’ve become if he was able to stay healthy and play a career that lasted longer than seven years. Adam Timmerman Adam Timmerman is one of the few players on this list so far, and overall, who didn’t spend the majority of their time with the Packers. After being drafted in the 7th round, he became an immediate contributor and started at right guard through the Packers’ two Super Bowl appearances in the late 1990’s. After Green Bay, he finished the last eight years of his career off in St. Louis with the Rams and made his only Pro Bowl appearance in 2001. There, he was a part of the greatest show on turf and nearly won another Lombardi Trophy. That’s a pretty good career for an offensive guard right there. This may be a bit too high for him on the list, but we need to show the big guys some love too. Matt H elbeck Matt H elbeck was taken by the Packers in the sixth round of the 1998 NFL Draft, but they were never able to truly reap the rewards he provided. This trade turned out to be completely lopsided for the Seahawks, as they drafted stud offensive lineman Steve Hutchinson and the Packers were stuck with Jamal Reynolds. H elbeck would go on to be the starting quarterback for Seattle for the next 10 years and take them to the playoffs on multiple occasions. He also earned himself three Pro Bowl appearances and played a major part in Packer playoff history when he claimed “We’ll take the ball and we’re gonna score” in an overtime playoff game at Lambeau Field. Of course, Al Harris picked off a p a few players later and raced down the sideline for a game-winning touchdown. Bryce Paup Bryce Paup spent about half his career in Green Bay, but probably saw his best playing days come elsewhere. After being selected in the sixth round of the 1990 draft, he earned his way onto the roster that first year, but played very sparingly. However, he began to make a name for himself during his second season. In 1991, he racked up 7.5 sacks and topped out at 11 sacks in 1993. In total, he recorded 32.5 sacks for Green Bay which ranks eighth most in team history. This may not seem like enough to make an impact that deserves the No. 14 spot on the list and you’d be correct. His career really took off the following season in Buffalo when he recorded 17.5 sacks in 1995. Overall, he was selected to four Pro Bowls and one All-Pro appearance in his 11-year career. Dorsey Levens Dorsey Levens was one of everyone’s favorite running backs growing up and helped lead a two-headed monster in the backfield alongside Edgar Bennett. Levens was selected in the 5th round in 1994 and joined a budding team on the up-and-up. He helped provide a dual-threat running back and was equally dangerous rushing the ball or catching it out of the backfield. Throughout his Packer career, he am ed 3937 rushing yards and 2079 receiving yards as well. He also scored four touchdowns in one game back on Jan 2, 2000, against the Arizona Cardinals. That’s tied with six Packer players for the second-most in team history. Levens holds a plethora of other Packer records including the third most rushing yards in a single season, third-most rushing yards in a game (190) and the third most yards from scrimmage in a season. He was a valued part of the Packers’ attack and was often lost in all the commotion surrounding Brett Favre. However, he gets his due on this list. Greg Jennings Greg Jennings was a route-running stud and could turn any defensive back completely around. He also played with two of the best quarterbacks in the history of the NFL in Aaron Rodgers and Favre and certainly benefited as a result. Regardless, he still put up great numbers and was one of the key weapons in the Packers 2011 Super Bowl Victory. Throughout his seven years with the Packers, he totaled 6537 receiving yards and 53 touchdowns. Those overall numbers earned him two trips to the Pro Bowl and three straight 1000 yard seasons from 2008-2010. He’s also sixth on the Packers list of most touchdown receptions in his career, trailing four guys who have yet to come and one player who was drafted way before 1970 (Don Hutson). We will forever be grateful for Jennings, even if he spurned Packer fans and went to the Minnesota Vikings after the 2012 season. More News at Lombardi Ave After being selected in the second round and with the 36th overall pick in 2008, he took a few years to get going. During his first two seasons, Nelson never totaled more than 366 yards or 33 catches. Then, in his third year, he got a bit better before completely exploding for over 1200 yards during his fourth year in Grene Bay. That turned out to be just the beginning for Nelson who topped 1200 receiving yards three of the next four seasons he played, including an insane 1519 in 2014. Unfortunately, he suffered a torn ACL in a 2015 preseason game and missed the whole year. That injury sapped his speed and he hasn’t been able to fully recover since. Even still, he ranks third in Packers’ history with 63 career receiving touchdowns, third with 15 touchdown receptions in a single season and fourth with 497 receptions in his Packer career. We could keep going because his name litters the record books, but I think you get the point. Hopefully, Nelson will continue his career in a successful manner and will get back on track with the Oakland Raiders. Chad Clifton Chad Clifton is the second offensive linemen we have on our roster and the first tackle. He was an old rookie, drafted at 24-years-old back in the second round of the 2000 NFL Draft. However, that allowed him to come in and play right way and anchor Green Bay’s left tackle position for the next 12 years. Literally, they didn’t have to worry about the position. During that time, he only made two Pro Bowls and was criminally underrated by the national media. If they had any idea about the type of player Clifton really was, those appearances would’ve at least doubled. The Packers may have finally found their replacement at left tackle in David Bakhtiari, but it took them a few years to figure it out. Proving, once again, just how valuable someone like Clifton is. Donald Driver Donald Driver is one of the most beloved players in Packers’ history. He was such a relatable, try-hard guy who had to work his tail off for every snap of playing time he received. After being drafted in the seventh round of the 1999 draft out of Alcorn State, Driver was undersized and not expected to make the team. After surprisingly making the roster his first season, he only recorded three receptions for 31 yards. He never topped 323 yards the next two seasons but had a breakout campaign in 2002. That year, he hauled in 70 p es for 1064 yards and made the first of three Pro Bowls. He would go on to play in the second-most games of any Packers’ player, behind the ironman Favre. He also finished second in most yards from scrimmage throughout his career as well as fourth in most reception touchdowns at 61. This underdog from Milby, Texas proved anything is truly possible and made sure Green Bay valued all of their draft picks, no matter how low the selection may be. Josh Sitton Josh Sitton is still going in the NFL today and is one of the rare active players on this list. He was selected in the fourth round of the 2008 draft with the 135th overall pick and proved right away to be a grinder who could make it in the league. In his second season, he took over as the full-time starter at right guard and held that position down for four years before switching to the other side. No matter where he played, he proved he could dominate and make opposing defenses fear him. He formed one of the best guard tandems in the league alongside T.J. Lang (not mentioned in this list). The duo was only beginning to get recognized for the studs they were before Green Bay surprisingly cut Sitton in 2016. He quickly caught on with the division-rival Chicago Bears and made his fourth Pro Bowl in 2016. Even though age and injuries are beginning to catch up to him, he’s proving he still has more than enough left in the tank to compete with the best. Antonio Freeman Antonio Freeman is another one of the most-loved players in Green Bay history, especially because of his fun-loving nature. He was originally selected in the third round with the 90th overall pick and came in as solely a kick and punt returner. However, he developed into much more than that beginning in his second season in the NFL. From 1996-2001, Freeman never registered below 800 yards receiving in a season. He was also elected to one Pro Bowl and one All-Pro team-both in 1998. That year, he recorded 1424 yards and 14 touchdowns. He played nearly his entire career in Green Bay and might be most known for his incredible catch in overtime against the Vikings on Monday Night Football. Freeman may not have the same accolades as some of the other wide receivers behind him on this list, but he was certainly of the most fun players to watch. Clay Matthews After a string of seven straight offensive players, we finally get to a defensive guy. And I’m sorry to say there’s only one other player on this side of the ball who appears on the list the rest of the way. Clay Matthews burst onto the scene during his rookie season of 2009 and recorded 10 sacks right off the bat. Fans had a feeling he was going to be special as general manager Ted Thompson made a very rare move and traded back into the first round of the draft to select him Matthews with the 26th overall pick. Matthews hasn’t disappointed either, earning six trips to the Pro Bowl and one All-Pro appearance so far. He’s also am ed four seasons with 10 or more sacks and ranks second in team history with 72.5 sacks with the Packers. He’s only two behind Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila and will likely p him this season. Unfortunately, Matthews has been slowing down recently and has battled injuries throughout his career. He hasn’t recorded more than eight sacks in a season since he had 11 in 2014. Mark Brunell Mark Brunell is similar to H elbeck in many ways. He was drafted by the Packers, but didn’t stay long before being traded away to another team, only to enjoy great successes with that franchise. Brunell was picked in the fifth round of the 1993 draft and only spent one season in Green Bay. In 1995, he was promptly traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a third and fifth round pick. There, he was expected to lead a brand new franchise and he did just that. Overall, he played nine seasons with the Jaguars and became one of the new faces of the franchise. In his career, he threw for over 32,000 yards and 184 touchdowns. Along the way, he also earned three trips to the Pro Bowl as well. Brunell was one of the true gems of his generation and always played solid football. He was such an iron man he stayed in the NFL until 2011 when he retired at the ripe old age of 41. LeRoy Butler Ah, Leroy Butler. The creator of the Lambeau Leap. Butler comes in at No. 4 on this list and I wish there was a way I could make him higher. Unfortunately, rules are rules so here he is. Butler played his entire 12-year career with the Packers after initially being drafted in the second round of the 1990 draft. He was there when the Packers still struggled and saw them all the way through their Super Bowl victory and finally retired in 2001 when they appeared to be slipping a bit again. He began his career as a cornerback but moved to strong safety in 1992. There, he excelled and was able to be the enforcer over the middle receivers feared. He also had a knack for the ball, compiling 38 interceptions throughout his career which ranks fourth in team history. Butler continues to cover the Packers to this day and remains near and dear to many fans’ hearts. Sterling Sharpe Even though Sterling Sharpe’s career was cut short, he comes in at No. 3 on this list due to the impact he had during his short time with the Packers. Sharpe was selected with the seventh overall pick in the 1988 draft and completely lived up to the hype. During his seven-year career, he was selected to the Pro Bowl five times and the All-Pro team three times. He also recorded 1100 or more yards in five of those seasons and appeared to gel with Favre at the helm. All of that came while he struggled with injuries and eventually had to retire due to a neck abnormality that caused him to experience lots of pain. As it stands, ranks fourth in team history with 66 total touchdowns along with a gluttony of seasons where he ranked near the top of the league in receiving touchdowns, yards and receptions. If he could’ve stayed healthy, he might be a spot higher on this list. James Lofton James Lofton is the only current member of the National Football League’s Hall of Fame on this list. He was selected with the sixth overall pick in the 1978 draft and played his first nine seasons in Green Bay (which also happened to be his best years.). During that time, he racked up 9656 receiving yards and 49 touchdowns. He also ranks third in team history with 530 receptions and second in receiving yards. In total, he was selected to eight Pro Bowls (seven of them with the Packers) and one All-Pro team. After his time with the Packers ended in 1986, he went on to play for the Los Angeles Raiders, Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Rams. Although, he wasn’t nearly as successful with those clubs as he was with his original team. Aaron Rodgers Aaron Rodgers is a bad, bad man. Also, was there any question he wouldn’t be No. 1 on this list? With Favre being drafted by the Atlanta Falcons, this spot was reserved for Rodgers the whole time. After being considered a potential No. 1. pick in the 2005 draft, Rodgers slipped all the way to No. 24 and right into the Packers lap. Once in Green Bay, he sat behind Favre for three seasons before finally taking over at the helm in 2008. He initially led the team to a 6-10 record, but proved worthy of a contract extension. His play would only continue to blossom from there, as he has turned into one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history. He’s been selected to six Pro Bowls, two All-Pro teams and two MVP awards. Oh, and he also carried the Packers to a Super Bowl in 2011. Next: Packers: Top 10 players in 2019 draft At 34-years-old, nobody’s quite sure how much Rodgers has in the tank or if injuries will play a role as they did last season.
