It ranges from “Wow, that must be the most amazing job” to “What? Seriously? Eugh. Why? Just eugh.” As some of you may or may not know, midwifery was not my first career choice. I started off with a love of science and a degree in Information Technology. Not my best decision on a career, I knew from early in my course that it wasn’t for me but decided to finish it anyway as I wasn’t sure what I did want to do. Fast forward 7 years of various jobs very vaguely linked to IT before I decided on midwifery. Why midwifery? Because I loved the thought of the drama of it all, the variety in the job, being there at such a precious moment in a woman’s life.
